It has been two years since fans last saw the harem king-aspirant Issei Hyodo on the small screen. With the years that have passed, is High School DXD Season 5 still coming?
TNK has yet to announce the coming of High School DXD Season 5. According to Fox Exclusive, the manga series has enough materials to continue based on the volumes its light novel series has.
There are beliefs the show's production may experience a delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But, despite the non-announcement, it is still believed that it will come out either in 2021 or 2022.
High School DXD tells the story of Issei Hyodo, the high school student who is famously known as a pervert. He wants to be a harem king someday.
However, his first date, who happened to be with a fallen angel, killed him, but he was later revived by the devil, named Rias Gremory. Issei then started to serve her and her family, but his growing relationship with Rias turned dangerous to both the devils and the fallen angels.
When the circular story segment began, fans saw the start of the Middle-Class Promotion Test. Here, Issei, Kiba, and Akeno were preparing to take the exam, while Koneko started acting weird.
Azazel then brought Ophos and the Khaos Brigade head to the Hyoudou Residence. From here, the plot took an interesting twist and turn. As the light novel is divided into story arcs, High School DXD Season 5 might feature the Hero Oppai Dragon Arc.
According to Dispatch Publicist 24, the show has yet to push through because of the rift between the creator Ichiei Ishibumi and the makers. The makers, reportedly, want to create a new plot, resulting in creative differences, which is also "unconvincing to the writers."
If the new season comes to fruition, most of the original cast members are expected to return to reprise their roles. TeCake noted Yuki Kaji might be back as Issei Hyodou, Yoko Hikasa as Rias Gremory, Azumi Asakura as Asia Argento, Ayane Sakura as Gasper, and Risa Taneda as Xenovia Quarta.
Also, Shizuka Ito may return as Akeno Himejima, Ayana Taketaksu as Koneko Toujou, Kenji Nojima as Yuuto Kiba, Maaya Uchida as Irina Shido, and Natsumi Takamori as Sona Sitri, among others.
