NCIS: New Orleans season 7 is coming this weekend on CBS, with the title "Something in the Air, Part 1." The premiere title alone suggests that the pandemic storyline will be the major focus. In fact, the trailer sees most of the characters struggling and dealing with the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In the premiere of NCIS: New Orleans season 7, Special Agent Dwayne Pride (Scott Bakula) warns everyone that they must be prepared from the "storm," which is the COVID-19 pandemic. This would be the major plot in the early run of the series, with everyone is feeling the effect of the health crisis.

Pride sends Tammy Gregorio (Vanessa Ferlito) and Quentin Carter (Charles Michael Davis) to investigate the death of someone aboard a humanitarian ship offshore. Then, they discovered that some of the crew members have been infected with the deadly disease.

The clip also sees Hannah Khoury (Necar Zadegan) on an emotional phone call with her daughter Naomi, while Dr. Loretta Wade (CCH Pounder) finds herself overwhelmed due to the huge number in the morgue due to the COVID-19. One particular arrival was someone she counseled about the pandemic.

In a previous interview with TVLine, Pounder said her character is shocked that this someone didn't listen to her when she informed him how to protect himself. The actress added that the latest installment is set in the early days of the COVID-19 outbreak.

NCIS: New Orleans season 7 is the only series in the franchise tackling the pandemic in the premiere. NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 premiere focuses on a certain case, while NCIS season 18 opens with a storyline in the past. For the Scott Bakula-led show, it will see the city on the brink of the health crisis.

Pride and the rest of the team will try to figure out how to get their job done amidst the COVID-19 outbreak. It could lead some of them to feel emotional strain because of the situation. All of them were in a position wherein they save people while risking themselves in the process.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Bakula's real-life wife Chelsea Field was promoted as series regular in NCIS: New Orleans season 7. The actress plays the role of Rita, Pride's love interest. She'll be making her presence felt in the premiere, and will become a significant player moving forward.

NCIS: New Orleans season 7 airs on Sunday, Nov. 8, on CBS.
