Fans have been waiting for the official announcement of Pirates of the Caribbean 6 and the possible return of Johnny Depp. Although there will be new Pirates of the Caribbean movies in the works, it may not continue what the franchise has started.

Fans are expecting to see the return of the movie series' original characters, from Johnny Depp to Orlando Bloom, in Pirates of the Caribbean 6. However, with the legal issues the 57-year-old actor is currently facing, it looks like viewers may not see him wearing the pirate hat of the fan-favorite Captain Jack Sparrow again.

Talking about the possibility of Depp's return, movie producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed he had no idea if Amber Heard's ex-husband would ever reprise his role, per Devdiscousre. He and the other people who work behind the scenes are not sure if there will be a role for the controversial star in the movie they are developing now.

They are currently working on a draft and hoping to finish it shortly so that they can give it to Disney. If the studio likes it, it will be good to go.

Screenrant reported Disney is actively developing two new Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Sadly, none of these two films will continue the story of the original movie series.

The films will be both a reboot and the first one will feature a story by the Chernobyl writer, Craig Mazin, and Ted Elliott, who is also behind the first four Pirates of the Caribbean movies. This adaptation may or may not include Depp's Sparrow. As Bruckheimer remains mum about Depp's return, the movie may mostly focus on introducing new characters.

The second movie will feature a fresh take of the franchise and there will be new characters, plot, and storylines. Here, fans will see the reunion of the Birds of Prey star and writer Margot Robbie and Christina Hodson. Fortunately, the title's followers warmly welcome the making of this new Pirates of the Caribbean movie project.

As the franchise is originally led by a woman, featuring female power, it is its chance to return to its original story. Its plot started to veer away from Elizabeth Swann's (Keira Knightley) tale after the third movie, At World's End. Sadly, it was the time the franchise started to decline in quality.
