Wentworth Miller made an announcement that would break every Prison Break fan's heart. The 48-year-old star announced he wouldn't be returning to Prison Break Season 6, so Michael Scofield might not be part of the new season.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, Miller confirmed he would never be part of Prison Break Season 6 if ever the show comes to fruition. The English-American actor played a major role in all five seasons of the series, so his exit would make a huge impact.
Miller confirmed he is officially out of the serial drama. However, he cleared it was not because of the static on social media, although he couldn't deny that it had "centered the issue."
He explained he didn't want to play straight characters anymore and their stories had been "told and told." Sadly, there would be no more Michael that fans used to see.
Miller then apologized to fans who still wanted to see Prison Break Season 6, knowing his announcement would be disappointing for them. He also said it would be other fans' work if they were bothered with his exit because they fell in love with a fictional straight character played by a gay actor.
Despite expressing his interest to do Prison Break Season 6 for years, Miller's co-star, Dominic Purcell, supported his decision. According to Deadline, the 50-year-old actor responded to his post, saying their work together was "fun."
He went on to say he was fully supporting and understanding his reasoning. He was even glad that Miller made that decision for his health and truth. Purcell then expressed his love for his brother, adding he should keep the posts coming.
Sarah Wayne Callies, who played as Miller's on-screen wife Sara, also showed her support to Miller. She said she felt grateful for all the work they did together and with deep love, she was supporting his decision.
The 43-year-old actress then cleared that the cast of Prison Break is all "queer-friendly" and they "stand with and among" their friends and family in the LGBTQ+ community. She continued they also support their rights and artistic work all the time.
Prison Break Season 6 has been on hold since the conclusion of Season 5 in 2017. Initially, the show only has four seasons, ending everything in 2009.
However, after eight years, Fox revived the series and gave it a fifth season with nine episodes. After a year, the network president Michael Thorn confirmed the coming of a new season with a new iteration, TV Line noted.
