Funimation and Crunchyroll both announced the official release date of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2. In no time, fans will finally see Rimuru and the rest of the cast's return on the small screen.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 will drop on January 12, 2021. Funimation and Crunchyroll both revealed it would stream the new season's episodes at the same time it would be out in Japan.

The much-awaited second instalment was supposed to be out in fall 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was moved to a later date - in winter 2021, per Monster & Critics.

The announcement of its supposed release came as a big surprise after it was dropped days after the health crisis was declared. Studio 8bit already a new key visual to confirm the second season's coming then.

However, in late May, the anime production committee announced the cancellation of the second installment's release. It explained they had followed the original schedule to finish the production of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2, but the state of emergency in Japan interrupted everything.

Meanwhile, there will be a bunch of new faces coming in the second season as the country is about to face more problems, Comicbook noted. By the looks of it, there will be a lot going on in Season 2.

In the new That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 trailer, it introduced fans to new faces and voices coming to the show.

Manami Numakura will now join the anime as Hinata Sakaguchi, Chiaki Kobayashi as Shogo Taguchi, Sho Nogami as Kyoya Tachibana. Also, Hiyori Kono will be joining the cast as Kirara Mizutani, as well as Ai Kakuma as Albis, Yo Taichi as Suphia, Satoshi Hino as Grucius, and Atsumi Tanezaki as Mjurran.

The preview also revealed the new season's opening theme, which would be True's song, "Storyteller," while the ending would be by Stereo Dive Foundation. The upcoming installment will be divided into two parts.

The first cour will be out in January, which will be part of the winter 2021 anime season. It will then go on a break in the spring, so the second cour will drop in July 2021 as part of the summer anime series.

In addition, the franchise's website also revealed a mini-game, titled Rimuru Jump! Unique Skill: Hanerumono, Anime News Network cited. Here, players can touch their screen to make Rimuru jump to get higher points.
