Netflix might have another winner in The Crown season 4 as the first reviews for the royal drama's return are reportedly mostly positive.

The Crown season 4 is basking in a 95 percent rating at Rotten Tomatoes from critics who have seen some of the episodes of the new installment ahead of its Nov. 15 release. Emma Corrin's portrayal of Princess Diana is on the mark, per The Times. She "blossoms and blooms" with every episode to become this seasons' "tour de force."

Equally giving her best performance is Gillian Anderson as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. According to Entertainment Weekly, Anderson is Thatcher transformed on the small screen. The role is speculated to be this season's villain as history shows, Thatcher and Queen Elizabeth didn't always see eye-to-eye.

Variety's review stated that The Crown season 4 could be the most successful installment of one of the most serious drama series on television. IGN Movies also stated that the show likely sustained its triumphant reign with this new season.

Corrin's introduction in the fourth season as the Princess of Wales has been much-awaited by royalists and fans of The Crown. The 24-year-old actress, however, revealed that playing Princess Diana made her feel sorry for the royal family.

She said that as a child, she grew up being fond of Lady Di because friends in school often teased her about how much she looked like the royal. Her mother was also a fan, as did most of the British public, because Princess Diana was someone who had a generous heart but was "taken so suddenly and unfairly."

But Corrin also said that what happened to Princess Diana was an "impossible situation," which made her conclude that marrying into the royal family must never be anyone's aspiration.

Meanwhile, The Crown season 4's biggest star is Olivia Colman, who reprises her role as Queen Elizabeth for the second year in a row. According to showrunner and creator Peter Morgan, they had only Colman in mind to play this iconic role when they were casting Claire Foy's replacement. Colman bagged the Best Actress plum at the Golden Globes for playing Queen Elizabeth in The Crown season 3.

By June 2021, the cast and crew of The Crown will be back on the set with new actors playing the royals as the setting shifts to the 1990s. Imelda Staunton will replace Colman as the Queen, while Elizabeth Debicki will play Princess Diana, in what would be her final years before her tragic accident.
