Commander Lawrence (Bradley Whitford) may take revenge on June (Elisabeth Moss) in The Handmaid's Tale season 4 after his wife took her own life. He's seemingly blaming the handmaid for what happened and wanted to get back on her.

Commander Lawrence was shocked and devastated when he found out that Eleanor (Julie Dretzin) died from an overdose. He believed that June was responsible for his wife's death, but he didn't know that the handmaid left her to get help. The Handmaid's Tale season 4 will continue to address this storyline.

While Commander Lawrence was among the people who helped established Gilead, he regretted his decision in setting up the totalitarian state. He switched to June's side and ready to help her take down Gilead. However, the handmaid might be in danger and he could betray her following Eleanor's death.

If ever he finds out the truth about what happened to his wife, Commander Lawrence could leak the information regarding June's plans for Gilead. In an interview with Gold Derby, Whitford said that his character is "unpredictable" and that the handmaid should be careful.

Even though it appears that he's on June's side, the actor noted that "people don't just have epiphanies" and become trusted allies. His statement seemingly hinted that Commander Lawrence wants June to believe that he's on their side, and then he'll betray her later on in The Handmaid's Tale season 4.

Whitford further added that he doesn't find Commander Lawrence "sympathetic." His wife's death could turn him into a more different person. Since he is unpredictable, he could come up with something that will potentially ruin June's entire life.

But despite the dangers ahead, The Handmaid's Tale season 4 could see Luke (O.T Fagbenle) helping June and their daughter Hannah escape Gilead. He wants his family back and he is planning to invade the totalitarian state.

Luke's hope is increasing and ready to fight back, especially after what happened in the season 3 finale. He's ready to smash through the walls of Gilead and he could get the support in Canada to take down the totalitarian state once and for all.

Meanwhile, The Handmaid's Tale season 4 has no official release date. But when Hulu dropped the trailer of the next chapter, it was teased that the series is returning in 2021. The original plan is to release the fourth installment in Autumn 2020. However, that wasn't followed as filming was forced to shut down earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
