The Handmaid's Tale season 4 continues to see June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) doing whatever she can to escape Gilead. It was initially assumed that the character died after being shot by the guards while helping the children and Marthas getting into a plane onboard to Canada.

Later on, it was confirmed in a teaser that June is still alive in The Handmaid's Tale season 4. She decided to stay in Gilead to find her first daughter, Hannah. However, the totalitarian state is determined to take her down, hence she needs the help of other people.

June's husband Luke Bankole (O.T Fagbenle) could take matters into his own hand to rescue his wife and daughter in The Handmaid's Tale season 4. He was devastated when he found out that the two weren't on the plane to Canada, leaving him helpless and waiting for news about them.

Luke wants his family back. He's aware that June is doing her best to find Hannah and bring her back to Canada. But then, it looks like he's tired of waiting and planning to do something -- perhaps invading Gilead. In fact, Fagbenle hinted that his character is not afraid to fight back now.

The actor teased that Luke's hope is increasing, especially after what happened at the end of the third installment. Fagbenle noted there are cracks in Gilead's wall and his character is ready to smash through that. Also, he could get support in Canada to take down the totalitarian state.

There's a Resistance -- Marthas and Handmaids -- inside the wall of Gilead ready to get revenge, as well. Luke could work with them to put an end to everything that's happening in The Handmaid's Tale season 4. But, if ever he failed to save June and Hannah, his world might turn upside down again.

Meanwhile, Moss, reportedly, pitched a "happy ending" but it's unlikely to happen. Speaking to The Times, the actress said she sees her character ending in a "modern relationship on an island." Although this is an ideal conclusion, it looks like it won't end that way for June and her family.

At the moment, the official release date remains unknown. But, the previously-released teaser suggests the next chapter is coming in 2021. Due to the current global health crisis, the premiere of the latest installment has been pushed back.

Originally, The Handmaid's Tale season 4 was set for an Autumn 2020 release. However, the production was forced to shut down in Canada back in March because of the coronavirus outbreak. Filming resumed in August, with the cast and crew following certain health measures.
