Kate Middleton is not an actress while Meghan Markle quit her Hollywood job after joining the royal family. However, some royal fans think that the sisters-in-law could make great James Bond villains in the next movie about the British secret agent.
Over at Reddit, a poster suggested that Kate could be the "new homegrown Bond villain" based on a photo of the Duchess of Cambridge from Remembrance Sunday. The fan casting idea was met with an enthusiastic comment from another forum member who said that Kate is already wearing a supervillain costume.
The fans also think that Kate could square off with Meghan in the imagined James Bond movie given their documented history. According to the biography Finding Freedom, Kate and Meghan's relationship as sisters-in-law is "cordial but distant." The two have not made efforts to forge a close bond despite being related by marriage.
But Meghan, with her acting experience, could specifically play the leader of an organization that Bond could investigate. Jezebel has noted that the Sussex couple's pick as the name of their new foundation, Archewell, already sounds like an evil group in a James Bond film.
It bears noting that Meghan was rumored to have been shortlisted in a Bond Girl role before she was engaged to Prince Harry in 2017. According to The Sun, producers of the franchise were interested in casting the biracial Suits actress because she fitted the "glamorous rising star" mold.
However, studio insiders allegedly debunked the casting rumor by saying that Meghan was never in the running and that, at that time, there was no James Bond film to make. Meghan's people also said that the former actress has no plans to return to the big or small screen except to produce projects behind the scenes or do documentaries with Netflix. Meanwhile, Kate might not likely be eager to star in a film, either as a Bond girl or Bond villain, but it's not also an impossibility. In 2012, Queen Elizabeth was easily convinced to become the ultimate Bond girl, alongside Daniel Craig, for the epic and historic London 2012 Opening Ceremony.
Reports stated that Queen Elizabeth had one special request before she agreed to be in the opening. Her Majesty apparently wanted a speaking part and was "very amused" with the idea of being a Bond girl. It didn't take her long to say yes to the director, Danny Boyle.
