Kate Middleton came together with the royal family for a historic event last Sunday to honor the fallen heroes who served their country during the war. While this was a socially-distanced commemoration, Queen Elizabeth reportedly offered a special item to the Duchess of Cambridge before she stood at the Whitehall balcony with the rest of the royals.

Reports cited that the Queen lent her granddaughter-in-law her favorite diamond and pearl earrings so Kate could match this with her military-style coat designed by Catherine Walker. The drop earrings did complement the Duchess of Cambridge's look.

This wasn't the first time, however, that Queen Elizabeth loaned her favorite simple earrings to the Duchess of Cambridge.

Kate also wore this pair during her visit to The Netherlands with Prince William in 2016. She also had the earrings on when she and the Duke of Cambridge presented their third son, Prince Louis, to the public upon his birth in 2017. Last year, Kate also wore the diamond and pearl drop earrings for the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance.

Meanwhile, royal fans could not help but notice that Kate wore three poppies on her chest during the Remembrance Sunday rites. According to People, the Duchess of Cambridge wanted to honor the three brothers of her great-grandmother Olive Middleton, who served and died during World War I. The Duchess of Cambridge has been making it her tradition to wear three poppies for this annual commemoration.

Before Kate entered Whitehall for the Remembrance Sunday rites, she was seen wearing a face mask in the car and followed the government guidelines amid stricter COVID-19 protocols. The duchess also wore the same black mask when she left the ceremony.

It comes as reports of Prince William's COVID-19 struggle in April surfaced just days before Remembrance Sunday. The Duke of Cambridge didn't announce his health's condition until seven months later because he apparently didn't want to raise any alarm and cause unnecessary concerns.

Prince William was sick with the virus almost at the same time as Prince Charles. Fortunately, however, Kate was negative for COVID-19, as well as the children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

According to Insider, the Duke of Cambridge's positive COVID-19 test was allegedly made public to boost the rest of the U.K. as they enter into their second nationwide lockdown until Dec. 2.
