Kate Middleton might just be the star of the royal family in this COVID-19 crisis following the news that her husband, Prince William, secretly had the disease in April. According to a royal expert, the Duchess of Cambridge might have just proven that she's made of the right, solid stuff as the princess-in-waiting and future queen in the way she handled the Duke of Cambridge's health scare.

According to royal expert Daniela Elser, Kate performed her royal duties without giving away any clue that there's a personal crisis in the Cambridge family. In the 20 days between late March and early April, when Prince William supposedly caught the virus, the duchess worked with poise and grace that hid the fear and anguish she might be feeling because her husband has been sick.

While Prince William is young and healthy at 38, COVID-19 is still a potentially life-threatening disease and one with far greater risks in the royal family because it's the second in line to the throne whose life is on the line. According to reports, Prince William was "hit pretty hard" although insiders at Kensington downplayed the effects of the virus on the future king because he still carried on with business as usual.

Elser pointed out, however, that Kate managed to show up at her Zoom video conferences to dispense support and positivity to healthcare workers, charities, and organizations without any effort. She still exuded cheer and professionally handled her role amid what seemed like her biggest test in public service.

The royal expert said that, at one point, all the responsibility to keep the royal family's image intact fell on Kate's shoulders and she carried the weight off it with flying colors. Elser likened the Duchess of Cambridge to the Queen Mother, who also showed strength and courage beneath her charm and poise after London was bombed during World War II.

Fortunately, Kate and all three Cambridge kids - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - didn't test positive for the virus. Prince William received treatment at Anmer Hall, where he was self-isolated from his family thus preventing a virus spread.

Meanwhile, Kate received heaps of praises from royal fans who watched the Duchess of Cambridge and the rest of the royal family during the Remembrance Day commemoration on Sunday, Nov. 8. Netizens on Twitter said that they feel lucky to have Kate as the future Queen of England because she is the epitome of strength and empathy.

Kate wore a military-style attire to the solemn event as she watched her husband lay down the wreath alongside Prince Charles, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward. Last year, Kate stood next to the Queen with Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall. This year, however, the royal family observed social distancing.
