Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 3 is coming next week on ABC, with the title "My Happy Ending." This episode picks up the events that happened in the two-part premiere, with most of the characters dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak. Aside from that, an unexpected appearance shook the story.

Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 3 will bring more emotional moments for the characters, especially for Meredith Grey. The two-part premiere episode ended with an unexpected reunion, in which Ellen Pompeo's character reuniting with Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), who died in season 11.

Meredith saw her late husband in a beach dream sequence after she collapsed in the Grey Sloan parking lot. This reunion made a lot of fans happy, albeit the short moment. Throughout the first and second episodes, the character struggled to deal with the impact of the pandemic.

Meredith was suspected to have been infected with COVID-19 after Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood) found her collapsed. When she woke up, she's already on a sunny beach. She heard a voice calling her name from afar and was shocked when it was actually Derek who's calling her.

Even though Meredith and Derek's reunion was short in the premiere, the promo of Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 3 promised that fans will be seeing more of them. The episode picks up where the premiere left off, with Meredith still on the beach while her late husband is walking towards her.

Meredith's hallucination, however, indicates that her health is not in a good condition. As seen in the clip, she doesn't want to fall asleep because she's afraid she may not be able to wake up. Then, the promo shows the doctors trying to wake up the unresponsive Meredith.

The clip ended with Meredith and Derek reuniting on the beach, with the former telling her late husband "I miss you" and he responded, "I know." This is going to be a more emotional reunion, though it's yet to be seen whether Dempsey's character will have longer screen time within this episode.

Meanwhile, Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 3 brings more stories for certain characters, as well. Based on the synopsis, the Grey Sloan doctors will continue to face the challenge brought by the pandemic and they're going to deal with a familiar yet stubborn patient.

Koracick (Greg Germann), on the other hand, is in charge of the interns who joined the hospital ranks. Link (Chris Carmack) will be operating on a sex therapist, while Maggie (Kelly McCreary) was able to find peace in the virtual presence of Winston (Anthony Hill).

Grey's Anatomy season 17 episode 3 will be airing on Thursday, Nov. 19, on ABC.
