Barack Obama has now released his long-awaited memoir, A Promised Land. Two years after Michelle Obama released hers, and four years after their exit from the White House, the former U.S. President takes his readers back to the time when he was still leading the country.

The Hill reported that the material continues to break records since its official release on Tuesday. While the former Michelle Obama's memoir remains as the best-selling, having 10 million copies sold across the globe, her husband's appears to be "promising" as it will likely surpass Becoming.

Reports said that A Promised Land is on its way to becoming the best-selling presidential memoir. After The Associated Press released the figures, the record shows Penguin Random House sold nearly 890,000 copies on its first day, topping Michelle's 725,000.

The same publications noted that Michelle Obama's Becoming is the only material by a White House resident that comes with "comparable sales" to Barack Obama's. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton had over 400,000 copies sold with his memoir titled My Life, upon its release within 24 hours. As for the former leader, George W. Bush, his Decision Points sold about 220,000 copies on its first day.

The total number sold for each of the two materials falls between 3.5 and 4 million copies. But, in a global setting, J.K. Rowling's final Harry Potter novel titled Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, remains the fastest-selling book with 8 million copies sold during its first day.

Barack Obama previously said that he had not planned to release A Promised Land "so close" to this year's presidential race. He did not also intend to take nearly four years to finish the book.

However, he penned in the introduction of the memoir that the material "kept growing" in terms of length and scope. He said that he discovered his need to include "more words than expected" to deliver his story.

Barack Obama's 768-page memoir details his personal experiences during his time serving the country as its president. Esquire pointed out some of the most "explosive" revelations in A Promised Land.

Apart from revealing the struggles and challenges he had in his marriage to Michelle Obama, he also talked about Donald Trump and the "changing face" of the GOP. Alongside his "punches" toward the incumbent U.S. President, the former leader discussed, as well, his former Vice President's character. He described him as "loyal" and "honest."
