Apple iPhones powered with A9 chips will not get the new iOS 15 as the update's support only starts with iPhone 7 and the more recent models.

There is bad news around the corner for owners of older iPhones, particularly those powered with A9 chips as rumors indicate the new iOS 15 will no longer support old models. These include the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, and the iPhone SE models. Instead, its support starts with iPhone 7 and later models, which most certainly covers recent and likely also next year's iPhone models.

The end of support of new iOS versions is always on the mind of iPhone owners. Call it business strategy or evolution but Apple is notoriously known for ending iOS support for old iPhone models, which many think is a bid to shore up support for newer iPhones. The really hard part is the company first lets iPhone owners a taste of the new features of transition iOS versions before telling them they cannot have the next version anymore, that is, unless they get themselves newer iPhones. It has happened before and now, it is bound to happen again with the new iOS 15, which rumors indicate will support only models starting with iPhone 7 and later models.

There are talks that the new iOS 15 is set for release next year, perhaps in time for the launch of the new iPhone 13 a year from today. If the Cupertino-based tech giant keeps up with its tradition as regards the month of the release of major iOS upgrades, then you can expect to download and install iOS 15 beta 1 as early as June of 2021, though as rumors indicate, its support only starts with iPhone 7 and later models.

New iOS versions oftentimes bring along new and improved features that either extend or enhance the functions of the iPhone. Such was the case with this year's iOS 14 when it dozens of new features, including its translate app and widget customization, to supported iPhone models. For sure, the iOS 15 update, which is set for release next year will also bring along a host of improvements and features. Unfortunately, if you are not an owner of iPhone 7 or later models, you may no longer download, install, and see the new features in action.

If you want to continue enjoying the new iOS releases, then you might want to consider upgrading to iPhone 7 or later models. Getting the most recent models would be the most prudent move as even if you upgrade to iPhone 7, you know that it will not take long until it is no longer eligible for new iOS releases. Its end-of-new-iOS support could end as early as 2022, which is a little over a year from now. True, you can still enjoy the new features brought about by iOS 15 if you are an iPhone 7 owner, but you can expect that will be the last iOS update it will enjoy.
