A revised version of the iOS 14.2 is now available for iPhone 12 owners and those who have not installed the update during its initial release early this month.

Apple today seeded a revised version of the iOS 14.2 for those who recently received their iPhone 12 units, as well as iPhone owners who did not have the chance to install the update when it was initially released. The company did not give any reason why it released a revised version, though many speculated it may include some bug fixes and may resolve some installation issues.

The original version of the iOS 14.2 update has a build number of 18B92 while the build number on the revised version has 18B111. The Cupertino-based tech giant said that the updated and revised version of Apple's iOS 14.2 is for new owners of iPhone 12, as well as owners of old iPhone models, who have not installed the update yet.

To check whether your iPhone is eligible for the revised version of Apple's iOS 14.2, you can tap on Settings, then General, after which you can then tap on the Software Updates and see if the revised version of iOS 14.2 is available for your phone. Owners of the new iPhone 12 can also follow the same path to check if their phones are already updated or not. Apple said that the latest iPhone 12 models are running iOS 14.1 by default.

Apple released the original version of the iOS 14.2 on November 5. The original update brought along new features like the Control Center Music Recognition toggle, fresh emoji characters, Intercom support, and the latest wallpapers. The original update also allowed users to add a Shazam button in the Control Center, making it easy for them to know what music is playing even without opening the Shazam app. With all these features, it is not clear why Apple needed to release a revised version of the iOS 14.2 for new owners of the iPhone 12 and those who did have not updated their phones yet to the new version.

According to reports, the revised version of iOS 14.2 which Apple released today, is now available for owners of iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12, as well as old iPhones eligible for such update, who have not yet updated to the iOS' latest version. Traditionally, Apple releases major updates to its iOS software every year. While some of those updates did have bugs, the Cupertino tech company immediately followed it up with new versions that fix the bugs and other problems.
