Tim Tebow’s dream of playing professional baseball is far from over. The New York Mets are keeping the faith in the former Heisman Trophy winner despite suffering some setbacks the past two years.

Mets President Sandy Alderson remains confident that Tebow still has a chance to shine in the MLB. He has already reached Class AAA status since signing in 2016 and believes that the 33-year-old former NFL player should stay the course, USA Today reported.

Alderson reveals having a conversation with Tebow about his baseball future. Tebow suffered a hand injury in 2019 but was looking to return this 2020. Unfortunately, the coronavirus foiled all those plans and such as frustrated any breakthrough Tebow had in fulfilling his MLB dream.

Given these scenarios, Tebow appeared hesitant to pursue his baseball career. But it appears Alderson has persuaded him to continue his pursuit so as not to flush his efforts in the sport down the drain, the New York Post reported.

“He’s anxious to come back. And I told Tim, ‘Look, Why would you want to end your quest based on a COVID-related reason? You didn’t get a chance to perform this year.’ He was hurt a little bit the previous year. So I think Tim is committed to coming back. And I think we’re committed to giving him an opportunity to do that and we’ll see where it goes,” Alderson said.

In the eyes of critics, Tebow has hardly proven himself capable of making a successful shift from football to baseball. But that is not shared by the Mets, a team that has benefitted immensely since his arrival.

“At some point, it will culminate. But I think that will be at a time when Tim and the organization come to some agreement about where he is and what his potential is. But I didn’t want him to go out based on some COVID-related interruption,” Alderson stated.

Alderson believes that it is not only the Mets who have benefitted from the efforts of Tebow. The former Heisman Trophy winner has done more than enough, proof of which is the fan support and following that New York and the MLB has had since Tebow opted to make the jump from the NFL.

Tebow has been known to keep his faith in God and his current path towards success in the MLB could be a test. If he employs the same faith in continuing to pursue his baseball dream, there is no reason why the 33-year-old can strike it big in the league soon.
