The first part of Lucifer season 5 sees the arrival of God (Dennis Haysbert) for the first time since the series debuted. He showed up in episode 8 to stop his Lucifer and Michael's -- both played by To Ellis -- feud. Now, there's a question on whether he'll stay until the series finale and what his role would be.

While the second half of Lucifer season 5 has no official release date, fans have been getting updates on what's coming next to the titular character. The series's official Twitter page hinted at the potential extended stay of a certain character, with some speculating its God.

In the final moments of the first half, God appeared when Lucifer and Michael, along with Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) and Mazikeen (Lesley-Ann Brandt), come face-to-face for an ultimate showdown. Now that he showed up, he could play a significant role in the titular character's life.

The recent Twitter post noted that while the return date of the series cannot be revealed yet, viewers should be ready for "*'s extended stay on ***." Fans were quick to respond as to who this character could be, with God being the top candidate.

Although he was frequently mentioned by Lucifer, the series never revealed God's face until the fifth outing. Some speculated that his arrival could impact not only his sons' life on Earth but the mortals, as well. Yet, others believed that Michael created chaos so that their father will leave the Silver City.

Meanwhile, there is another theory suggesting that God left Heaven so he could prepare the titular as the next ruler of the Silver City. His potential extended stay means that the two will spend more time together and may repair their relationship.

Lucifer season 5 could see God lifting his son's punishment after seeing how much he's changed over the centuries. One fan on Reddit theorized that God showed up to prepare Lucifer's return to Heaven and become the new ruler of Silver City.

However, this means that he'll be away from his lover, Chloe Decker (Lauren German). It remains to be seen how their story will end, given many celestial things are happening around them. Fans will have to wait and see whether they'll end up together in the sixth and final installment.

Lucifer season 5 first eight episodes are available to stream on Netflix.
