Prince William won't be able to avoid coming face-to-face with the stars of The Crown one day. The royal could find himself in the same room as the actors who played his parents in the controversial Netflix TV show.

The Crown stars are likely going to get several British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) nominations for television in 2021, according to Daily Express. The president of the BAFTA is no less than the Duke of Cambridge, who always attends that awards ceremony with his wife, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Critics and fans alike have lauded the performance of Emma Corrin, who portrayed Princess Diana, the Duke of Cambridge's mother, in The Crown season 4. If Corrin wins a BAFTA acting award, she will have to get up on the stage for her acceptance speech while Prince William sits with Kate in the front row.

But friends close to Prince William have said that he is furious at The Crown for its "simplistic way to make money" off the story of his parents' doomed marriage. Calls for Netflix to put a disclaimer in every episode have gotten louder and louder as a new generation of viewers discovers the series and takes the dramatized storylines as facts.

Corrin, on the other hand, said that she will likely leave if she ever saw Prince William or his brother, Prince Harry, at the same party. That possibility is not far-off once awards season is back on the calendar.

In an interview with British GQ, the actress said that she understands if the royal drama, especially the latest season, will be difficult to watch for Prince William. Still, Corrin is curious to know what the royals think, but there are conflicting reports on whether the royal family actually watches or avoids the series.

Sources have said that the Queen's youngest son, Prince Edward, and his wife, Sophie, have weekend viewings of The Crown. Princess Eugenie, Prince William's cousin, is also apparently a fan of the drama. Mike and Zara Tindall, the other cousins, recently got caught up with the show, as Mike said in his podcast.

But In 2019, Olivia Colman, who plays Queen Elizabeth on The Crown, revealed that she actually spoke to Prince William about the series when they were at the same dinner party a few years ago. The Duke of Cambridge asked her what she's been busy with and then remembered that Colman was just cast as his grandmother in the Netflix drama.

Colman then said that she was excited to ask Prince William if he watches the show. But the Duke of Cambridge firmly answered that he's not a viewer. Though Colman said that Prince William was charming and lovely.
