Fans have been waiting for the coming of Prison School Season 2 for more than four years. As the anime director Tsutomu Mizushima is hoping to do another reason, will his wish come true?
Mizushima's wish to do Prison School Season 2 gives fans hope to see Kiyoshi Fujino back to the small screen again. If it pushes through, it may deal with Hachimitsu Academy after the first season mostly focused on Kiyoshi and her friends' problems with the institutions.
According to Devdiscourse, fans may see the protagonists getting more comfortable with the school's rules and regulations after learning how to adjust. However, it may also delve into the boys' issues with the institution, knowing the girls have outnumbered them.
Next Alerts noted fans might once again hear the voices of the original cast when the show returns. The five prisoners might reprise their roles, so Kiyoshi may voice Hiroshi Kamiya, Reiji as Kazuyuki Okitsu, and Takehito as Katsuyuki Konishi.
Mari Kurihara may also return as Sayaka Ohara, along with other members of the student councils. The anime usually features multiple sets of the voice cast, so the second season may stick with its original Japanese cast.
However, it remains to be seen if the English cast will be the same. After the first season's English dub was badly received, there might be some changes happening.
Anyhow, despite the English dub's poor performance, it couldn't be denied that the first season was a success. Trinikid noted the show earned positive reviews with 7.75/10 ratings with over 352,308 votes.
However, J.C. Staff studio has yet to reveal if the show will be renewed or canceled. Its status remains unknown, but the likelihood of it is said to be very high.
It still has many stories to tell after the first season didn't manage to cover all of its manga materials. The franchise even dropped its 28th chapter in April 2018 -- three years after the first season ended.
With enough source materials and fans support, what stops Prison School Season 2 to be in the works? Does J.C. Staff give up the project?
Mystery and horror author Naoyuki Uchida called Mizushima about the anime's second season. However, in a tweet, the latter revealed his response was thanking fans for their support, but he had no idea yet about the making of the much-awaited second installment.
He continued that he wanted to do it, but his tweet seemed to be cut, not revealing why he couldn't work on the anime. He just continued his post with an embarrassed face emoji.
