Extraterrestrial beings have been communicating with Earth and President Donald Trump has knowledge of a deal between aliens and the U.S., the Denver Channel News reported quoting a former Israel government official.

Haim Eshed, a former Israel military space program director, said a "galactic federation" of aliens don't want humans to join the organization and will not show themselves because they worry it will cause hysteria.

Eshed's comments were first reported by the Yediot Aharonot newspaper. He is a professor and retired general. Portions of the interview, originally in Hebrew, were then published in the Jerusalem Post, NBC News reported.

Eshed said aliens were curious about humanity and were seeking a clearer grasp of "the fabric of the universe." An agreement has been signed between the two species - including an underground base in the "depths of Mars" that hosts American scientists, astronauts and alien representatives. "They signed a contract with us to do experiments here," the report quoted Eshed as saying.

The official also said Israel and the U.S. have collaborated with the extraterrestrials on space travel and that Trump was "on the brink" of making public their existence, the Jerusalem Post reported.

Eshed, 87, was responsible for Israel's Ofek Satellite project. He spoke to Yediot Aharonot while promoting his new book, "The Universe Beyond the Horizon." His claims are unsubstantiated.

The White House and Israel officials didn't respond to requests for comment. A National Aeronautics and Space Administration representative said one of the agency's objectives was to discover life in the universe.
