Masashi Kishimoto will be handling Boruto Chapter 53 onward, taking the helm from Ukyo Kodachi. With the change, fans can expect the manga to have a different tone, as some say it may also take a dark turn.
Fans have mixed reactions to the change the manga is about to experience. Of course, a lot hope it will be better for the series, as it will indeed affect the storyline.
According to BlockToro, there may be "unnecessary flashbacks," but there may also be more fight scenes involving every character in the series. As nothing is confirmed yet, anything may happen now that Kishimoto handles the writing works of Boruto Chapter 53.
As the manga artist has been hinting that the manga will be darker than Naruto Shippuuden, things may get pretty intense soon. Hence, the new chapter may end on a major cliffhanger or have a very dark turn.
Boruto and Kawaki are about to face each other in the future, and there are also hints about the initial's Jougan, karma seal, eye scar, and more. There are also rumors that Naruto or Sasuke will meet their demise or something tragic may happen to them in Boruto Chapter 53.
There is also a possibility that Isshiki will send Naruto to the Otsutsuki planet, where he will be trapped alone. If this happens, he has to find his way out back home over the next few years. By the looks of it, Kishimoto will surely expand the manga's future story in a way that will still feel natural.
Meanwhile, Comicbook noted Boruto is about to launch its next massive arc, getting more inspiration from the original manga series, Naruto. The anime will have a new opening theme, called "Baku" by Ikimono-gatari, giving fans a much clearer look at Kawaki and other Kara members. Of course, there will also be a new ending theme, performed by Mol-74, titled "Answers."
The new themes may drop simultaneously when the series launches the Vessel arc, which will feature original content and notable elements like the Kara Actuation arc. It is also set to bring in one of the major characters.
The manga called the new arc, the "Ao arc." It will be changing some things around with the Ao's introduction. However, with the coming of Kawaki and Kara, it may not feature a major shakeup.
Boruto Chapter 53 is set to be out on Sunday, December 20, at midnight, Japan Standard Time, per HITC. It will then drop at 9 a.m. Pacific Time, 11 a.m. Central Time, noon Eastern Time, and 5 p.m. British Time.
