Walker is officially coming next year on The CW. The series is a reboot of the CBS' long-running 1990s' series Walker, Texas Ranger starring Chuck Norris. Recently, the first trailer has been released featuring Supernatural alum Jared Padalecki's Cordell Walker and teased what lies ahead.

Walker follows the story of Cordell Walker, a widower and a father of two. He worked as an undercover for two years before eventually returning to his hometown, Austin. Then, he realized that there are harder works that needed to be done here than he previously thought.

Cordell tries to reconnect with his rebellious daughter Stella(Violet Brinson) and thoughtful son Arlo (Kale Culley). He also deals with the clashes with his family: his traditional rancher father Bonham (Mitch Pileggi), perceptive mother Abeline (Molly Hagen), and ADA brother Liam (Keegan Allen).

A lot of things changed during Cordell's time away in his hometown. Now, his colleague Larry (Coby Bell) is a Ranger Captain. He'll also be working with his new partner Micki (Linsey Morgan) -- who's one of the first women in the show's history.

While navigating all of these, Cordell grows suspicious about what happened to his wife Emily (Genevieve Padalecki). He's going to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death. As shown in the first trailer of Walker, this storyline will play out through most of the series.

In the clip, Cordwell tries to make the world a better place while dealing with his personal issues, particularly his wife's death. He's gone from his home for quite a long time, so he'll be picking up the pieces and will start anew.

Meanwhile, Odette Annable will play the recurring role of Geri in Walker. She is a bartender at Side Step and an old friend of Emily. While Geri hasn't seen Corwell since his late wife's funeral, they have a history and shared tragedy.

In another report, the new series won't be a continuation of Walker, Texas Ranger. It is, reportedly, "reimagining" the original show, with Padalecki playing the new version of Norris' character. New characters will be introduced, but more familiar connections are coming back.

Filming started back in October 2020 and is set to continue until April 2021. But then, some things must be considered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If there won't be any delays, the series will store more episodes by the time it officially arrives.

Walker premieres on Thursday, January 21, 2021, on The CW.
