Yellowstone season 4 picks up the massive cliffhanger that happened in the season 3 finale. The episode left the future of the Dutton family in question, with John Dutton (Kevin Costner), Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), and Kayce Dutton's (Luke Grimes) lives on the line.
At the moment, it's unknown whether all of them survived or one of them died. But, some fans speculated that Kayce makes it out alive in Yellowstone season 4 despite his dangerous situation. At the end of the previous installment, he was seen cowering away from oncoming shooters.
In the final moments, gunmen showed up to his office and opened fire, and Kayce immediately flipped over his desk. While there's a chance that he's severely wounded, fans were convinced that the series won't kill off one of its significant characters.
In fact, one fan on Reddit theorized that Kayce is going to live and the person who attacked him may have been using an automatic weapon. Although being fired by such leads to death, the character is experienced when it comes to deadly combat.
The fan added that Kayce drew his pistol out when he flipped his desk. Moreover, he's talking to his wife Monica (Kelsey Asbille) on the phone before the gunmen interrupted them. The scene cuts to the end of the phone call, with gunshots as the result of the attack.
The fan suggested that two distinct pistol shots can be heard at the end of the call. Kayce may have enough time to duck behind and open fire on the gunmen. After all, the series has shown the character's sharpshooting proficiency with firearms.
The same thing could happen to Kayce's father John and his sister Beth, assuring their return in Yellowstone season 4. The former was shot in the chest, while the latter was in her office at the time it exploded. All of them possibly survived their precarious situation.
Meanwhile, Yellowstone season 4 kicked off production in Montana in mid-August. Despite the current global health crisis, the cast and crew managed to proceed with filming without any setbacks. Everyone is being careful on the set to avoid delays moving forward.
Reportedly, the casting directors were searching for extras to shot the latest installment between August and December. It has been suggested that the call for extras means filming would take place in Darby, Hamilton, and Missoula, and everyone was invited to take part.
Yellowstone season 4 is premiering in 2021 on Paramount Network.
