Kate Middleton and Prince William have plans to follow in the footsteps of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry as they reportedly applied for a trademark to build a multi-media brand for Earthshot.

According to royal correspondent Richard Eden, Kate and Prince William's Royal Foundation filed the trademark application via the Intellectual Property Office in the U.K. Earthshot is the Duke of Cambridge's environmental prize initiative, but the trademark application also calls for coverage on all sorts of media, including television, podcast and internet broadcasting.

Eden said that Prince William asked stars like Cate Blanchett and Shakira to serve as judges for the Earthshot Prize, which will expectedly have a worldwide appeal if it's laid out as a TV show. The royal correspondent said that the Cambridges plan is not so different from Meghan and Prince Harry's plan since they are also producing programs for Netflix and Spotify, particularly documentaries and podcasts that tie to their advocacies.

Royal fans will say, however, that it's Meghan and Harry who are copying Kate and William. In October, the Duke of Cambridge aired his conservation documentary, Prince William: A Planet for Us All on ITV.

Supporters of the Cambridges that Prince William worked on this film for two years, just right after Meghan and Harry were married. At that time, the Sussex pair wasn't even thinking about giving up their royal roles to shift to producing programs on television or do podcasts.

William also came out with a documentary on BBC about mental health. Football, Prince William, and Our Mental Health aired in May, which he later followed up with a podcast appearance that gathered some professional football stars.

In February, Kate also did a podcast episode with Giovanna Fletcher, where they discussed motherhood and parenting, as well as her Early Years initiative. The decision was hailed as a ground-breaking effort for the future Queen of the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Kate and Prince William also came out with a heartwarming documentary for the medical frontliners this Christmas. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge narrated their version of A Christmas Story to honor the healthcare workers.

It comes after Kate and William attended a special event at the London Palladium for the healthcare workers and their families. They were treated to a special pantomime show that delighted both the adults and kids.

Kate and William also brought along their children -- George, Charlotte, and Louis -- to the special show. It was the very first red-carpet event for the Cambridge children.

Throughout this pandemic, Kate and William led the country in showing their appreciation for the millions of hospital workers and essential personnel who have kept the country moving amid a crisis. The Cambridges also conducted virtual calls and personal appearances, whenever possible, to response centers, emergency services, and the teaching staff to boost their morale. The royal couple also finished a three-day tour visiting the frontlines across the U.K. before the holiday break.
