NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 is on its winter break at the moment. The current installment of the police procedural is still on its early run, but it looks like it is already setting up its latest Big Bad. There is a possibility that David Kessler (Frank Military) will be a huge thorn for everyone.

The fifth episode of NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 sees Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) coming face-to-face with the sociopath David Kessler. She's the one who put this man behind bars years ago. He became obsessed with her after that. Kensi was forced to visit Kessler in jail since he had information on her case.

He knows something that could protect the United States president, yet he didn't reveal what this could be. Instead, Kessler threatened Kensi that he would do everything to harm her as soon as he gets out of prison. She is certain that he won't get out of jail anytime soon, so she feels at ease.

But then, Kensi and Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) received a phone call from Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith) informing them that Kessler was released. That means he's going to do what he told Kensi, putting her life in great danger.

Kessler could be the huge Big Bad in NCIS: Los Angeles season 12. This man is capable of doing whatever he wants and won't stop until he hurts Kensi. Yet, it looks like he won't show up anytime soon, as he might be hiding somewhere and planning to attack at some point.

CarterMatt noted that Kessler could show up either in February or at the end of the season. The series might be preparing for a big event, which could feature a huge showdown between him and others. While he's attached to Kensi's storyline, his appearance won't likely be exclusive to the character.

His presence will impact Deeks, G. Callen (Chris O'Donnell), and Sam Hanna (LL Cool J), as well. All of them will be involved, given that Kessler is a dangerous character. They're going to do their best to throw him back to jail. This is possibly being set up before the current installment wraps up.

For now, the series focuses on case-of-the-week moments and other characters' storylines. For instance, Deeks was dismissed from his job, but there's a chance for him to become an NCIS agent. He'll likely undergo some sort of training to be officially part of the department.

NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 returns on Sunday, January 3, 2021, on CBS.
