Eric Christian Olsen's character of Marty Deeks faced a tough situation in the fifth outing of NCIS: Los Angeles season 12. There are a lot of concerns about his future after he was dismissed as a liaison for the department. It remains to be seen what's next for him now that he's not working with the team.

In the recently-aired episode of NCIS: Los Angeles season 12, fans saw Deeks losing his job in the Los Angeles Police Department. Some have been speculating the character will get a promotion at some point, but that didn't happen after his agent status comes to an end.

Nell Jones (Renee Felice Smith) informed him that he wouldn't be able to work with them anymore, and there's nothing she or Hetty Lange (Linda Hunt) can do about it. While he could join training to be an official agent, he might have a hard time due to his age.

Deeks seemingly loses his job for good. He'll probably look for a new one, especially since he's starting a family with Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah). At the moment, the couple is in the process of buying a new house, but this might get interrupted because of what happened.

There could be certain conflicts as Deeks deals with his mental struggles and tries to cope with his dismissal. The good thing is that there is no official announcement that Olsen is leaving the police procedural drama. There are still a lot of ways to include him in the story.

Deeks could play a huge part in Kensi's storyline, especially since the sociopath David Kessler (Frank Military) is on the loose. Ruah's character put this man behind bars years ago, and now that he's out there lurking somewhere, he may come for her to get revenge.

Kessler is going to be a huge factor in the upcoming episode of NCIS: Los Angeles season 12, titled "If The Fates Allow." This man is dangerous, and he's considered one of the horrible villains within the series. He is obsessed with Kensi, which puts her life on the line.

Speaking to a recent interview with TVLine, Ruah teased that Kessler's attack is like a "ticking bomb" which is a "great thing" for the series. This man is possibly planning for something big, and no one may see his arrival, making the situation even more dangerous.

The next episode of NCIS: Los Angeles season 12 is airing on Sunday, Dec. 13, on CBS.
