True Beauty breakout star Hwang In Yeop is in talks to join Ji Chang Wook in the Netflix fantasy series Annarasumanara.
According to a report by Sports World, it was revealed in an interview that Hwang in Yeop was being eyed to play the role of Na Il Deung, a boy who tries to be at the top of the class to meet the expectations of his parents. The character will reportedly realize his true potential when he meets Lee Eul and Yoon Ah ee's characters.
Annarasumanara is an adaptation of Ha Il Kwon's popular webtoon. It centers around a girl named Ah ee, who meets an immature magician named Lee Eul in an amusement park as she tries to flee schoolmates who were spreading malicious rumors about her.
The webtoon appeared on Naver in 2010 and became one of the well-loved modern fairy tales for adults.
Ji Chang Wook is reportedly being eyed for the lead role. According to his agency, Glorious Entertainment, the actor did receive an offer to play the part and he is in the process of reviewing the project, Checkin reported.
Ji Chang Wook recently completed filming the short form Kakao TV drama Lovestruck in the City where he stars opposite Kim Ji Won. The series was released on Kakao TV and Netflix last December 8.
Annarasumanara will be a change of pace for Ji Chang Wook, whose recent projects were romantic comedies. On the other hand, Hwang In Yeop will be right at home playing another character from a manhwa adaptation.
The young star previously starred in The Tale of Nokdu in 2019 and True Beauty this year. Both are webtoon adaptations.
Hwang In Yeop recently received positive reviews for his portrayal of Han Seo Joon, the second lead character who showcases his rebellious charm and stunning visuals in True Beauty.
In a recent interview, the rising star shared the preparations that he made before portraying the role of Seo Joon. According to In Yeop, he learned to ride a motorcycle and even enrolled in acting school to give justice to the action scenes in the series.
He said that he wanted fans of the webtoon character to be satisfied with his performance. He added that he doesn't get much sleep these days to prepare for the role, but he does not mind because he is happy to breathe life into his character, Hello Kpopreported.
