The year 2020 has been a depressing one for Marvel fans, considering no new films or shows are released. However, it looks like Marvel Studios is making sure that they can make it up to their fans. Disney may have confirmed that the release date for the highly anticipated Blade reboot starring Mahershala Ali.

Back in 2019, it was confirmed during the San Diego Comic-Con that a Blade reboot is in development and that Mahershala Ali will take over the role of Eric Brooks. Although fans hoping that Wesley Snipes will still play the Daywalker, most were still pleased that the beloved comic book character will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But when can fans expect to see Mahershala Ali's version of Eric Brooks in action? A new report suggests the Blade reboot could be one of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe releases in 2022.

Marvel Studios had made it clear that they will spring back several new releases after all of the major projects that were due in 2020 were pushed back due to COVID-19. This includes the films Black Widow and Eternals as well as the Disney+ shows WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Although these projects are already set to premiere in 2021, the studio clearly has even bigger plans for 2022.

During Disney Investor Day, Marvel Studios confirmed the release dates for Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2 for 2022. In addition to that, the official title for the third Ant-Man film was revealed to be Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. Interestingly, it was also confirmed that the Blade reboot is already in development.

Although Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and the Blade reboot were not yet given official release dates, the Disney Investor Day programming guide listed both films in the same line as the 2022 releases. Now, Disney may have revealed the premiere date for the Mahershala Ali movie.

Disney recently unveiled its release calendar which lists an unnamed Marvel film for October 7, 2022. This new movie will premiere between Black Panther 2, which is scheduled for July 8, 2022, and Captain Marvel 2, which will hit theaters on November 11, 2022. Not surprisingly, fans believe that this new Marvel Cinematic Universe flick will be the Blade reboot.

So what are the chances that Disney's October 2022 will be the Blade reboot? Although it's a possible option, some have also pointed out that Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania might be a better candidate considering that the sequel already has most of its cast locked in along with the director. For now, Disney and Marvel Studios have not yet made an official announcement about either films but stay tuned for more updates on this story.
