BTS is the biggest boy group on the planet right now, and the members’ names are on everyone’s lips. The group’s popularity keeps growing by the minute, and even non-K-pop fans have heard about them.
However, being a K-pop idol wasn’t Jin’s goal when he was younger. The 28-year-old singer and songwriter’s dream was to become an actor. In fact, he graduated with a degree in art and acting at Konkuk University.
Jin’s “Worldwide Handsome” title is also fitting as he was scouted by Big Hit Entertainment mainly because of his looks. The BTS star was not a singer nor a dancer when he became a trainee of the agency, so he learned his singing and dancing skills from scratch.
Now, Jin is an amazing singer and a great dancer. If you watch him perform, it is hard to imagine that he didn’t have these skills before.
Despite Jin’s major improvement, he still receives some criticism, especially because some K-pop fans couldn’t let go of the fact that he only became an idol because of his good looks. While being the visual of BTS is an easy task for Jin, he would be the first one to admit that he’s not the best dancer in the group.
Being in the industry for almost a decade, Jin already honed his skills. However, the BTS star still thinks that he has a lot to improve, especially his dancing.
And during 2021 New Year’s Eve Live (NYEL), Jin said that he was doing “body movements” instead of dancing. But V refused to accept the “Epiphany” singer’s claim and shut him down.
“Our eldest hyung is a hyung who shows the most amazing dances. So I will ignore that statement,” V said.
This isn’t the first time V has stopped Jin’s self-criticism. When BTS held a special broadcast on VLive to discuss their album MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 in February 2020, Mr. Worldwide Handsome talked about how he’s not as quick to catch up with the choreography as the other boys.
“I don’t get familiar with the choreography as quickly as the rest [of the members] do,” he said. But V didn’t seem to like Jin’s statement and cut him off. “Don’t say such things,” V told him.
“I’m a bit lacking,” Jin continued. However, V wouldn’t allow him to think that he’s less of a dancer than the rest of them and assured him saying, “No. Really, it’s not.”
