Fans are still patiently waiting for the coming of Overlord Season 4. As it has been more than two years since the anime's third season ends, will the fourth installment still come to light?
So far, Madhouse Studios is yet to give any updates about Overlord Season 4. Anyhow, with the production company's superb work on its special effects, storyline, and overall visuals, viewers are expecting to see more.
According to BlockToro, the anime should have been completed by now, if not for the COVID-19 pandemic. It should be done by the summer this 2021 and would be ready for release at the end of the year.
However, as the global health pandemic has affected a lot of TV, movie, and even anime and manga productions, it also halted the works for the much-awaited series. By the looks of it, it will take a little more time before fans will see Ainz Ooal Gown and the rest of the cast back to the small screen.
Blog to Bollywood confirmed Overlord Season 4 has enough source material, based on the light novel series of the same name by Kugane Maruyama. There are 14 light volumes on the market, and the latest release was on March 12, 2020.
Maruyama wrote one volume each in 2017 and 2018 but didn't write anything for 2019. Anyhow, he previously announced he would finish the series with volume 17.
On the other hand, the anime has adapted three light novels each season. So, a total of nine volumes out of the current 14 light novel volumes have been adapted.
If ever Overlord Season 4 will push through, it may adapt volumes ten to 12. There is no shortness of source material for this series, and it can continue anytime.
Titled "The Ruler of Conspiracy," the tenth volume was out on May 30, 2016. It tells the story of Ainz's decision to make his kingdom a paradise for all races.
Anyhow, it looks like not everyone agrees with his decision. The rulers of other countries want to oppose Ainz's plan in his "newly found nation."
Overlord is about an online game that bears many twists and turns after its servers get permanently damaged, per OtakuKart News. One of its lead characters gets stuck in the game that ultimately turns into a reality.
After one gamer forgets to leave the game, he gets entangled in its consequences. To survive, he needs to fight all the demons that will come his way. So far, fans still have to wait for Overlord Season 4's official announcement.
