Rumors indicate that a smoother 120Hz display could make a debut in the upcoming Apple iPhone 13.

It is very early in 2021 but many people are already speculating on the features that Apple's new iPhone 13 would bring. Rumors have been circulating online since last year that Apple is set to release its new line of iPhones, which are loaded with fresh and improved features, in the second half of this year. Whispered talks indicate that all models of the new iPhone 13 will have the LiDAR scanner feature. If true, this will make every camera enthusiast happy, as they would not have to dig deep into their pockets to enjoy the feature. Another feature said to be making a debut on Apple's iPhone 13 is a smoother 120Hz display.

What is a 120Hz display, anyway, and why does it matter that the new iPhone should have one? A 120Hz display simply means that your screen is capable of refreshing itself 120 times per second. A smartphone with a higher or faster refresh rate can cope with a huge load of pixels for every second, making for better, and smoother screen displays. This feature is already present on some Android-based phones, such as those made by Samsung and Oppo. Many Apple fans have been requesting Apple to introduce the smoother, 120Hz display feature on its devices and as rumors indicate, the feature might be making its debut in the upcoming iPhone 13.

Apple iPhone 13's refresh rate reportedly will jump from 60Hz to 120Hz, making its screen display appear smoother and nicer. In a report filed by ET News, the iPhone 13 will come in four variants. However, while all of them will have the LiDAR scanner feature, only two of its models, presumably the high-end ones will have the smoother, 120Hz display feature. Having faster display refresh rates will make the new iPhone's interface more responsive and smoother. Gamers stand to gain the most benefit as most action games recommend devices with 120Hz refresh rates.

Apple already introduced the feature, which it calls ProMotion, back in 2017 with its iPad Pro, and its subsequent higher-end tablets. ProMotion allows these devices to offer a series of refresh rates from a low of 24Hz to a smoother, 120Hz display feature. ET News did not specify whether the iPhone 13 will have an improved ProMotion feature or if Apple will increase its refresh rate to a smoother, 120Hz feature. What is clear, at this point, is that the iPhone 13 could have a better display rate that can come head to head with its Android rivals.
