Tesla missed by a hairline its 2020 delivery target but the company achieved incredible growth, which hopefully can be sustained this year. To follow through on the goals set for 2021, the U.S. automaker seemed ramping up on the efforts to make its Gigafactories fully functional in the coming months.

Elon Musk has been saying that Tesla's mammoth manufacturing facilities are designed to produce one million electric vehicles in a year. If the target is to be achieved, it is a must for the company's mega-factories to start humming.

Apparently, that exactly is the chief agenda for the Gigafactory Texas, currently in construction and lined up for completion in May. The plan is to commence production activities in the plant the moment it is ready, and according to Electrek, the building of Giga Texas has shifted to "hyperspeed" mode.

The accelerated construction phase will be supported by Tesla's hiring spree in the area and as the same report indicated, "[Tesla] is looking to hire dozens of people right now to prepare for production later this year."

The company's priority is to hire talented engineers with expertise in manufacturing techniques and the specific positions that need filling up have been published on LinkedIn.

Tesla rushing to recruit people is a telling indicator that Musk is pushing hard for the Gigafactories to start rolling out new EVs. The automaker earlier stated that these giant factories will mainly produce the Model 3, Model Y, the upcoming Cybertruck, and Tesla Semi.

The same goes for the Gigafactory in Shanghai, China, and the latest update from Asia showed that while construction of the factory is still ongoing, it is already assembling EVs in large amounts. The production focus right now involves the Model 3 and Model Y as the two are the bestselling Tesla offerings in China.

Yahoo Finance reported that even in semi-completed capacity, Giga Shanghai is rolling out a maximum of 8,000 EVs per week. The manufacturing rate is seen to boost Tesla's output and should help the automaker double the half-million delivery target that Musk gunned for last year.

Barring the emergence of serious glitches, the objective for Giga Shanghai is to deliver a high of 523,000 units by yearend. Around 100,000 of the production batch will be reserved for purchases outside of China while the balance will be distributed domestically, added the report.

Another Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany is under construction and if the manufacturing complex would be ready to start production activities in the year then Tesla is in a strong position to build one million new EVs by the end of 2021. The thrust will be helped by outputs coming from the other Gigafactories and the factory in Fremont, California.
