The Rookie season 3 episode 3 comes with the title "La Fiera," which is scheduled to be released this weekend on ABC. The future of Sergeant Wade Grey (Richard T. Jones) in the department is going to be in question. It looks like he is now ready to leave the force.
Based on the synopsis of The Rookie season 3 episode 3, Sergeant Grey is considering retiring. At the moment, there is no guarantee that he's going to push this plan. But then, he's been through a lot within the force and some of the current happenings likely prompted his decision to leave.
The good news is that there is no official confirmation that Jones is leaving his character in the police procedural. His decision regarding his future may not be resolved in The Rookie season 3 episode 3. It will probably continue to play out through most of the third installment.
Meanwhile, there is also an unexpected guest for Officer John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) in this week's episode. His mother will be appearing for the first time, but it seems like he is not entirely delighted by this. The unannounced visit of his mom seemingly complicates his personal life.
The Rookie season 3 episode 3 will also pick up some of what happened in episode 2, "In Justice." The police reform is one of the themes here, with Nolan and Officer Nyla Harper (Mekia Cox) attempting to rebuild the reputation of the station in the community.
Nolan is determined to make a positive impact, but Harper is more realistic about the nature of their job and how society sees them. Jackson West (Titus Makin Jr.), on the other hand, realized how his new training officer sees the people he serves and protects.
In another report, the third installment saw a rating drop. The previous episode generated only a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic and about three million viewers. Reportedly, these numbers mark the lowest for the show's run.
According to CarterMatt, one of the main reasons for the decline in numbers is that the episode aired opposite the NFL playoff. It's yet to be seen whether the ratings may recover in this week's episode. The rating is one of the major factors in renewing and continuing the series in the future.
The Rookie season 3 episode 3 will be airing on Sunday, Jan. 17, on ABC.
