Tesla is already busy assembling the Model 3 and Model Y in China even though its massive manufacturing complex in the country called Giga Shanghai is far from completed, construction-wise. The factory will supply the demand for Tesla EVs in China and other markets as evidenced by its recent output.

A Chinese drone operator reported on Thursday the fleet of Model 3s that were spotted sitting on the Giga Shanghai parking lot. The report estimated hundreds of EVs that appeared ready to roll out as they were wrapped in a protective film.

The drone flyby also revealed that the Model 3s observed are in Right Hand Drive configuration, and it can be deduced that the batch of completed EVs is reserved for delivery outside of China. If true, this is in line with Tesla's plan to temporarily export the Model 3 and Model Y from Giga Shanghai while the construction of the automaker's manufacturing sites in other parts of the world is underway.

Tesla is building a Gigafactory in Berlin and when completed, the facility will roll out EVs intended for the European market. In the meantime, Tesla will be sourcing from China and Teslarati said Giga Shanghai seems ready to deliver the orders coming from Europe and the nearby regions.

According to Elon Musk, Tesla's China factory is set to supply 550,000 EVs in 2021 or more than half of the targeted one million units that the automaker will deliver within the year. The CEO indicated that at least 300,000 Model 3s will be assembled in Giga Shanghai and a third of the lot will be allocated for shipment outside of China.

That should mean the Shanghai factory is tasked this year to manufacture 100,000 Model 3s in RHD configuration, and these EVs will be hitting the road in Europe and other markets where Tesla is gradually establishing its presence.

On this, Australia quickly comes to mind as the country drives on the left side of the road and it is the same case for India. The latter is confirmed to welcome Tesla soon and based on the report by CNN News18, the Model 3 will be the first Tesla EV to be sold in the country.

The automaker recently registered to start its business in India and the government has already announced that Indians will get a hold of the coveted Tesla EV beginning this year. While it remains unconfirmed what the exact EV model that Tesla will bring to the country, it is widely believed that it will be the Model 3.

The report added that when the Model 3 starts selling in India, the EV will enter the country in CBU mode or as completely built-up units, somehow confirming that the vehicles will be imported from Tesla's nearby factory - the Giga Shanghai in China.
