Apple is set to launch the new iPhone 13 in the second half of 2021 and rumors say it will bring along dozens of surprises including the resurgence of the Touch ID.

It is only a few months after Apple released the iPhone 12 and already rumors are starting to swirl around the next, yet unreleased, iPhone 13 model. Starting late December of 2020 and the early weeks of January 2021, rumors about the next model's features started making rounds. The most recent one is the resurgence of the Touch ID, which Apple ditched back in 2017 with the iPhone X.

As regards Apple's next model, it is unclear whether Apple will call it iPhone 13 or give it some other name. What is clear, at this point, is that the Cupertino-based tech giant is set to release a new iPhone in the second half of 2021. Rumors also indicate it will have several features, which include the Touch ID.

Four Variants

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a financial services analyst, Apple's new iPhone 13, which is set for launch in the second half of 2021 will have four variants. These are the iPhone 13 Mini, the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The analyst did not indicate whether all four would have the Touch ID feature or it would only be available on some models.

The source of talks about the resurgence of the Touch ID feature on the iPhone 13 is Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who claimed that Apple is working on an in-display version of the feature for the new iPhone. The journalist clarified though that there is still a chance Apple will not include the feature with its 2021 smartphone models. However, if the Cupertino tech giant does include it, users would have more options when it comes to their iPhones' biometric security.

"S" Model

Rumors also indicate that Apple is treating iPhone 13 as an "S" model, which means there might be no major changes on the new smartphone set for launch in the second half of 2021. If the rumors are true, then the iPhone 13 could appear similar to its immediate predecessor, the iPhone 12, as far as the exterior appearance is concerned. Whatever changes or improvements Apple would be making will mostly focus on internal components, speculation that might give credence to the rumors that Apple will include an in-display Touch ID system with the new smartphone.

Apple fans expect the Cupertino tech company to launch the iPhone 13 in September. Until then, rumors about the Touch ID reappearing in the new iPhone will remain just plain talk. Nevertheless, as months go by, leaks would most likely surface and in one of those, you might see the in-display Touch ID feature after all.
