Fans have been waiting for the coming of Given Season 2 since it conquered the anime world in 2019. After it aired its first season in the summer of the said year, it became another fan-favorite BL anime series.
Instead of getting Given Season 2, Blue Lynx dropped a movie sequel to the series in August 2020. As the wait continues, is there a chance for fans to see Mafuyu Sato, Ritsuka Uenoyama, Ahihiko Kaji, and Haruki Nakayama once again on the small screens?
Based on the manga by Natsuki Kizu, the anime earned a massive success in Japan and even rose to international prominence. It even got an 8.31 rating on MyAnimeList and 8.3/10 on IMDb, Epic Dope noted.
The show introduced Mafuyu, the high school boy, to the world. He is best known for holding an old guitar with broken strings.
He then met a classmate, Ritsuka Uenoyama, who happened to be a guitarist. With the same interest and hobby, Mafuyu asked Ritsuka to fix his guitar.
In return, Mafuyu joined Ritsuka's jam sessions and met his bandmates, Ahihiko and Haruki. Ritsuka then learned Mafuyu had a golden voice, so he convinced him to join their band.
This started an incredible journey between the two--not just a musical adventure but also a brewing romance. Mafuyu would also get to face his past to reveal the real deal behind his old guitar's real owner.
Studio Lerche is yet to reveal if there will be Given Season 2 or a chance for renewal. However, according to HITC, there is a big chance that fans are going to see a new season soon.
As its manga version continues, there are enough materials for the anime to continue. Also, it is good to note that with its popularity, the series can't be easily canceled.
The first season mainly focused on Ritsuka and Mafuyu's romance, while the movie explored Haruki and Akihiko's bond. So, in Given Season 2, it may continue to feature the relationships these four have.
There may also be more musical adventures as they grow to be more inclined in the music field. Surely, it will once again bring fans to a different rollercoaster ride of romance, heartbreak, backstories, and more.
So far, its manga version has five volumes in total, so a second season may continue anytime. Although it is yet to be revealed if Given Season 2 will come to fruition or not, fans expect it to see later this year, per Pop Culture Times.
