A few days before the headlining rematch between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, new details on the 2018 sexual assault case involving the MMA superstar threaten to grab attention from the event. The incident is said to be more disturbing than earlier thought basing on the latest court filings.

The accuser, who remains unidentified as mandated by the laws in Ireland, in the rape case filed a personal injury lawsuit on Monday and the statement furnished provided the juicy details about the alleged assault. In sum, the case involved flirtation, violence, and drugs - the elements that led to the woman getting violated by McGregor and one of his associates.

According to MMA Fighting, citing the report published by The New York Times, McGregor and the woman connected on Instagram, and the exchange that ensued was described as "flirtatious." Soon after, McGregor's driver picked up the woman to bring her to the star's hotel and it was alleged cocaine was consumed during the drive.

Upon arrival at McGregor's hotel room, the woman's statement showed that the fighter asked his visitor to perform "lewd acts" and the woman's clothes were removed. Before the assault happened, the accuser made efforts to turn back her alleged attacker, saying she "bit and hit," to prevent the rape.

The case file also indicated that a friend of McGregor claimed to have had sex with the accuser. The woman, however, said she had no or vague recollection of the events after the assault. What she can recall was a drink offered to her and a taxi ride back home.

Even if it was true that she had sex with McGregor's friend, the woman insisted that the act happened without her consent.

These fresh details were brought to the court's attention following the filing of a new lawsuit that seeks damages due to psychological and emotional problems caused by the alleged assault. If the court ruling will be in favor of the accuser, McGregor stands to pay up to $2.13 million to cover the wages lost and medical expenses.

A statement issued by the MMA fighter's legal representative indicated that McGregor intends to fight the lawsuit and "will dispute any claims and is confident that justice will prevail."

This legal trouble is only one of similar allegations that McGregor faced between late 2018 and 2020, and per MMA Junkie, the UFC superstar "vehemently denied all wrongdoing. To date, not one of the rape cases resulted in criminal proceedings.

But the details of the December 2019 assault case emerging could distract the two-division titleholder as he is scheduled to duke it out again with Poirier on January 23.
