WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for the premiere of Riverdale season 5. Read at your own risk.

Riverdale season 5 episode 2 will continue to follow what transpired in the premiere. During the first episode, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) investigation into the auteur led them into a more twisted path. They discovered a secret underground for red-band screenings.

Riverdale season 5 episode 2 comes with the title "The Preppy Murders." Betty and Jughead's investigation will continue, and it'll direct them to a darker road. They receive a phone call from Bret (Sean Depner), which eventually takes on an unexpected turn.

During the first episode, Betty and Jughead investigated the tape and they asked Charles' (Wyatt Nash) help. Brett accompanied them, and they ended up in a secret underground for red-band screenings, which is led by Blue Velvet owner, David (Kett Turton).

Later on, Betty and Kevin (Casey Cott) tried to get tickets for the screenings. They attempted to bring David a homemade snuff film, but he soon realized that it was fake. When left with no option, Betty decided to hand over her father's snuff film as a child.

After successfully getting in, Betty tried to sneak Jughead into the underground rave. They found out that a lot of snuff films are being shown to the gang, with Jughead's sister, Jellybean (Trinity Likins), being one of the attendees. This investigation further continues in Riverdale season 5 episode 2.

As for Archie (KJ Apa), he confessed to Veronica (Camila Mendes) during the prom about his and Betty's kiss. Then, the two decided to break up. The premiere ended with Archie returning home and finding a tape that recreated his first encounter with the Black Hood.

Based on the synopsis of Riverdale season 5 episode 2, Archie is forced to make an impossible decision. He must deal with a painful part of his past, which involves his father. He needs to decide whether or not he's willing to help the person responsible for Fred's (played by the late Luke Perry) death.

In the promo, Archie can also be seen reeling from everything that happened to him in the premiere. He took his frustration out, and he angrily hits the TV with a bat. He had a heated confrontation with Hiram, as well. His ex-girlfriend's father called him a "disgrace" due to his infidelity to her Veronica.

As for what else is coming next week, Veronica and her half-sister Hermosa (Mishel Prada) are planning to force Hiram (Mark Consuelos) into early retirement. Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch), on the other hand, is making a move for her business.

Riverdale season 5 episode 2 airs on Wednesday, Jan. 27, on The CW.
