Riverdale season 5 is going to feature a lot of changes for several characters. The teen-drama will be wrapping the remaining episodes left in season 4 before proceeding in the new chapter. This will include a seven-year time jump, which will seemingly feature Vanessa Morgan's real-life pregnancy.

Morgan, who plays Toni Topaz, confirmed in her recent Instagram post that Riverdale season 5 will incorporate her real-life pregnancy. The actress thanked the showrunner and the producers for "accommodating and writing" her pregnancy. She also announced she's officially on maternity leave.

Morgan first revealed the news about her pregnancy in July 2020. This leads to speculations that she won't be reprising her role in the fifth installment. But, the actress made it clear that she's is coming back as Toni and her pregnancy will be featured on-screen.

Toni was a recurring character in season 2 before being promoted as series regular in season 3. She was a member of the Southside Serpent and was first thought to be a huge torn for Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) and Betty Cooper's (Lili Reinhart) relationship.

Eventually, she ended up dating Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). Then, the two formed an all-girl gang called "Pretty Poisons" after Toni was ousted from the Southside Serpents. Now that Morgan's pregnancy will be featured, there is a question about her character's relationship with Cheryl.

It remains to be seen how the pregnancy will play out in Riverdale season 5. Yet, considering the seven-year time jump, there is a huge possibility that Toni is going to be pregnant on the other side of it. This could lead to some mysteries, including the identity of the child's father.

Toni's pregnancy could mean that she and Cheryl won't be together in the time jump, as well. Still, there are other ways on how to explore this storyline. For now, fans -- especially "ChoNi" shippers -- have to wait and see what the future holds for the character moving forward.

Meanwhile, Riverdale season 5 previously released its first trailer, which featured the prom, creepy masks, as well as disturbing videotapes. Jughead, Betty, Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), and Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), in particular, are receiving eerie videotapes.

The weirdest part here is that the clips showed a masked version of themselves doing something violent. This is going to be one of the central parts of the early run of the fifth installment. After this mystery wraps up, the series will proceed to the intended time jump.

Riverdale season 5 premieres on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, on The CW.
