The Promised Neverland Season 2 has shown how the kids have escaped the farm with William Minerva's help, and many believe the call Emma received in the latest episode was from him. However, knowing Minerva is dead, who called Emma? What is this alleged Minerva's motive to help them?
The Grace Field orphans can either stay at the farm and become food for demons or escape to try their luck for a better future in a world full of evil spirits. As The Promised Neverland Season 2 begins, viewers see the choice they made, thanks to Minerva.
Sure, the kids have started to trust the mysterious guy wholeheartedly, but fans have many questions. Who is Minerva?
According to Epic Dope, known for his name as James Ratri, he is the Ratiri clan's former head, and Minerva is only his pen name. Emma and the rest of the kids are not the only children he has saved.
They're far too many, and he does it through his books, like the one with the owl symbol on the plantation. The secret messages he leaves have morse codes that they have to decode to escape. His adventure story also tells how the outside world looks like so that they can navigate their way out.
Minerva defies the pact between the humans and demons, upheld by the Ratiri clan. It's his responsibility to make sure the children will stay inside the farm, and anyone who will break the deal has to die.
However, Minerva is not fond of this treaty, so he helps the children escape. He has also built "safe areas," like B06-32, where Emma and the kids take shelter in The Promised Neverland Season 2, and Goldy Pond.
For kids to find these places, he created Promised Pen that also works as a map and a key to give them access. However, Minerva is said to be dead, killed by his brother Peter Ratri, for betraying the Ratri clan, though his body has never been found.
Anyhow, TV Season Spoilers noted the call Emma received at B06-32 in Promised Neverland Season 2 Episode 3 was from Minerva. This, of course, surprised the many knowing he's already gone.
So, in the next episode, this mysterious guy's real identity is expected to be revealed. As some believe he may indeed be Minerva, others are convinced it's Mister.
