Queen of the South season 5 sees Teresa Mendoza (Alice Braga) securing the empire that she builds and living her new life in New Orleans. However, there are still people coming in her way -- including her ex-boyfriend, Eddie Brucks (Bailey Chase). Their break up could have dire consequences for the queenpin.

It can be recalled that the two briefly dated before queenpin was comatose after being attacked by Judge Lafayette (David Andrews). Now, fans suspected that Eddie could turn as Teresa's new enemy in Queen of the South season 5.

One fan on Reddit noted that Eddie might be working for the DEA or CIA now. The fan proposed a theory that Teresa's ex-boyfriend wasn't working for them while he was still dating Teresa and he was approached by agents shortly after their break up.

Eddie may try to enter Teresa's life again in order to get information about her drug operations in Queen of the South season 5. The theory was further fuelled when he didn't visit the queenpin when she was in a critical condition -- then he suddenly showed up at the end of season 4.

There is a possibility that Eddie tried to get over their break-up that's why he failed to visit her at the hospital. Then, an agent investigating Teresa reached out to him that's why he suddenly showed up. This might be part of a plan to track down the queenpin.

Teresa has a lot to deal with when Queen of the South season 5 premieres. The return of James Valdez (Peter Gadiot) hinted that old enemies will show up. A lot of threats are looming around the corner and she needs to figure out who to trust.

When the series first aired, the story kicked off with a flashback featuring Teresa becoming one of the most successful queenpins in the world. However, everything came crashing down when she was shot in the head by an unknown gunman.

Teresa's death has been teased from the beginning, though it is still unknown how she made it to the top and who murdered her. This has been a huge mystery over the past years, and the upcoming installment will provide answers about this matter.

Queen of the South season 5 has no official release date on USA Network at the moment, but the 10 episodes are slated to come out sometime in 2021.
