Snowpiercer season 2 episode 2 is coming next week on TNT, with the title "Smolder to Life." The latest installment of the post-apocalyptic dystopian drama introduced Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean), who could have a huge role moving forward. Only a few things were known about him, and his origin will be fleshed out.
Snowpiercer season 2 episode 2 may serve as a further introduction for Mr. Wilford. His presence has shaken things up within the train, largely because he has a lot of resources. His interaction with Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) also suggests that the two had a history.
In fact, the premiere episode already teased their potential connection, and this will be picked up in Snowpiercer season 2 episode 2. Mr. Wilford may attempt to even things out with Melanie, whose loyalty remains uncertain until now.
There is a possibility she'll side with the train, but her daughter's presence could make the situation complicated. Mr. Wilford groomed Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), who's mad at her mother for abandoning her. Melanie will try to get her daughter back from this man.
Apart from Alexandra's ties with Mr. Wilford, she could also be associated with LJ Folger (Annalise Basso). There is an intriguing connection between the two, especially since they both have a "ruthless yet demure disposition." This will likely be addressed in next week's episode.
Meanwhile, Melanie discovered something about the snow she's been collecting outside. The Freeze may have started to thaw to lower temperatures, and they're going to delve further on this matter. Also, there is an exchange at the center of the story.
According to the synopsis of Snowpiercer season 2 episode 2, an exchange will be made between two trains. However, things go sideways when they found out that a greater revelation might just be looming around the corner.
As for Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs), there is a concern when it comes to the martial law he implemented as it could potentially lead to war. He's also about to enter parenthood, which could change his position on the train.
Meanwhile, the series has already been renewed for the third season even before the official premiere of season 2. Hence, there is no need to worry about its future as the stories, as well as other sub-plots, will continue moving forward.
