Several developers today revealed receiving an invitation from Apple to participate in some online events with discussions ranging from building widgets and creating app clips to bringing the iPad apps to the Mac.

Apple on Tuesday sent out invitations for selected developers, inviting them to participate in a series of online informational sessions, which will cover widget building and app clip creation, as well as how to bring iPad apps to Mac. Developers also revealed the online discussions would cover new iOS 14 features, which suggest the Cupertino tech giant is looking to improve integration of the apps' capabilities.

Some developers who received Apple's invitation reveal the online informational sessions have three parts, with the first one taking place on February 1 and the second one is set for February 15. The developers did not elaborate as to the schedule of the third part of the event. Reports say that Apple periodically invites select developers to attend such events, particularly when the company is set to launch new technologies and services. The upcoming online event will involve discussions on building and creating widgets and app clips, as well as transporting iPad apps to the Mac.

Useful Widgets

The first online event called "Building Great Widget Experiences" and set for February 1 will focus on building useful widgets from related app data. The Cupertino tech giant flaunted the feature in its invitation email, which developer Simon B. Stovring shared on Twitter. "Useful and delightful, widgets let you elevate key content from your app and display it where users can see it at a glance on iPhone, iPad, and Mac," a portion of Apple's invitation read. The developer also revealed other virtual sessions would focus on app clip building and porting iPad apps to the Mac. Apple sent out the invitations only to selected developers.

According to the post of Stovring, Apple's virtual events would help developers discover ways on how to build better widgets, one that users can easily personalize for their Home screens in several unique ways. "Join us for an in-depth look at building great widget experiences," Apple's invitation to select developers like Stovring, stated. Aside from building useful widgets and app clips, The Cupertino tech giant is also inviting select developers to a virtual session that discusses bringing iPad apps to the Mac. The second session, set for Feb 15, which is called "Bring Your iPad App to Mac," will encourage app developers to port iPad app titles to Mac using the Catalyst technology in Xcode.

Developers Invited To Ask Questions

After virtual sessions on creating widgets and discussions on bringing iPad app titles to the Mac are over, Apple will hold a third virtual event called "Building Great App Clip Experiences." Select developers say that this event focuses on how to allow users to access important functions like payment options, as well as making them available quickly without requiring users to download a full-size app. At the end of the three virtual sessions, Apple invites developers to ask questions about the topics discussed during the meetings.
