Around 80 million households tuned to Bridgerton within a month of its release on Netflix, making it the most-watched show on the streaming platform, and one of its fans is apparently Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

According to E! News, Kate hinted that she may be a Bridgerton viewer during a video conference on parenting. The Duchess of Cambridge was asked to write down her greatest support during the lockdowns and gave a knowing smile when the moderator mentioned that she shouldn't say it's "Bridgerton."

Kate actually wrote her husband's name, "William," and the moderator felt relieved. The Duchess of Cambridge also laughed when the moderator said they didn't want her writing something scandalous like the Netflix series.

Kensington Palace then posted parts of the video on social media, adding a cheeky caption about Bridgerton. This suggested that the Duchess of Cambridge is familiar with the sensational and titillating romantic drama about the lives of aristocrats during the Regency period. Fans on social media drew the same conclusion and said that Kate's reactions to the Bridgerton joke showed that she's aware of the series.

However, someone from the royal family has openly admitted to watching Bridgerton twice. The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, confessed that she is obsessed with the Netflix drama and is eagerly awaiting the second season because she's heard it will be filmed in her former home.

Netflix has given Bridgerton season 2 a green light, which will likely resume filming in late 2021. Reports cited that a set in Sunninghill Park Estate is being prepped up for the series. This was the former home of the Duke and Duchess of York before their mansion was demolished by the new owners a few years ago.

Meanwhile, a cast member from Bridgerton season also has a slight connection to another royal family member. Kathryn Drysdale, who plays the famous dressmaker Genevieve Delacroix in the series, has also played Meghan Markle in the comedy series The Windsors.

Despite the satirical nature of The Windsors, Drysdale said that she is actually a big fan of the Duchess of Sussex. She told Page Six that she "really likes" Prince Harry's wife because she is a "strong, independent woman" who sticks by her belief and doesn't try to fit in. Drysdale also said that she supports the Sussex pair's decision to move out and raise their son in an environment outside of the royal bubble.

Bridgerton season 1 is still streaming on Netflix with eight episodes.
