The team found another major discovery in the recently-released episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8. Brothers Rick and Marty Lagina believe that they're close to unearthing the Money Pit after finding new clues surrounding the mysterious island.

In the previous episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8, the fellowship uncovered potential evidence of human activities as early as the 1400s. They're looking for spoils excavated in the area of the Money Pit, which leads to Alex Lagina finding a human shoe and a piece of glass.

Ever since the current installment premiered, the Laginas and the team have been finding hints that they're about to uncover the treasure chest. In the premiere, they found an item that looked like gold but it slipped through the diver's hand. The object eventually plunged deeper into the water.

Another suspicious-looking gold item was recovered in episode 11. Gary Drayton believed that he found "gold," but it was later on confirmed that it's just gold paint. Yet, that didn't stop the fellowship to do further diggings to locate the Money Pit.

Aside from finding gold, The Curse of Oak Island season 8 sees the fellowship focusing on the swamp. They suspected that the stone structure is a roadway leading to the sea. With their recent findings, the team will try to investigate whether or not human activities occurred on the island centuries ago.

Alex's discoveries suggest that there were such activities in 1492. Everyone is also delighted by this new clue since it could potentially change the course of their journey. They may finally solve the mysteries plaguing treasure hunters and researchers since the 1790s.

In the early run of treasure hunting reality show, the team directed their attention to the Knights Templar theory. They've been looking on this subject since the seventh installment. Also, Erin Helton presented her interpretation of Zena Halpern's map.

She suspected that they might have been digging the wrong area all along, which prompted the team to try a different spot. Although they weren't able to find anything, the team still trusts her. They continue with their journey in finding the treasures inside the Money Pit.

The next episode of The Curse of Oak Island season 8 will air on Tuesday, Feb. 2, on History Channel.
