Anko Mitarashi has become one of the most "untapped" and "underutilized" Naruto characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations. While the change in her physical appearance is not the problem, it is, reportedly, what the other characters turned her into years after her arrival in the plot.

CBR released an analysis of the character, adding that she has become a "fat joke" in the franchise's latest materials. From being one of the strongest figures in the earlier plots, she has allegedly become "almost irrelevant" in the main storyline and the "butt-end of jokes."

In Boruto, Anko appears to have a constant love for food. The publication said that her bigger and heavier appearance is not a "bad thing" at all.

What is bad, however, are the "fat jokes and stereotypes" that the other characters throw at her all the time. Moreover, the latest material has seemingly presented her as a "lazy, food-addict."

Several figures in the storyline treat her like she is a "failure." They almost always slam her for her body, as well as her inability to find a husband.

These things are not, reportedly, what the public expected considering that she is an "incredibly powerful character." She even helped save the entire ninja world on more than one occasion in the whole franchise.

A separate report from CBR stated that there are, also, a lot of things that do not make sense about Anko Mitarashi. Before Boruto, she had a very interesting introduction because of her past, essentially her connection to Orochimaru.

As it happened, Anko learned a lot from one of the series' biggest antagonists and even obtained many of his techniques allowing her to become quite powerful. She had a "clear vendetta" against Orochimaru, as well. Soon after the introduction, though, the character eventually faded in the background.

The outlet noted that one of her "defining traits" is her hatred for Orochimaru. But, despite having these features in her character, she now looks "perfectly fine" living freely in the village.

While Anko is now a legendary kunoichi following the turnout of events leading into Boruto, it does not, reportedly, make sense given that her powers are not entirely untapped in the latest course. It even appears that tracking has become her only biggest talent.

In addition to these things, the whole series has yet to explain why she survived the Cursed Seal process. Being the only one who did it and resisted its allure, many fans are wondering about the story or the real reason behind it.
