Kate Middleton and Prince William's youngest child, Prince Louis, is turning three years old this year but he has been missing out on reaching a certain royal milestone due to the pandemic crisis.

According to Hello, the young royal hasn't been on his first royal tour outside of the country. His siblings, Prince George, 7, and Princess Charlotte, 5, both had their first royal tours before they reached their toddler age.

George was only eight months old when Kate and William brought him to Australia in 2014. Charlotte was 16 months old when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge had a royal tour in Canada in 2016.

The COVID-19 travel restrictions in the last year have stalled everyone's travel plans, including the royal family. Kate and William were supposed to travel to Australia last spring to visit the families of the victims of the bushfire.

But because of the pandemic, Kate and William had to cancel their trip. Though plans were not laid out to the press, it would have most likely been Louis' first royal tour abroad with his family.

Louis has also missed out on attending his first nursery school experience because of the crisis. When they were younger, George and Charlotte started nursery during a January school opening.

This year would have been Louis' chance to start school as well but the United Kingdom has been on lockdown since January, forcing all schools until the secondary level to shift to online classes. His brother and sister, who are both attending Thomas's Battersea in London as Year 3 (George) and Year 1 (Charlotte) pupils, are currently doing online classes while the Cambridges stay in Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

If Louis had to attend nursery classes today, it would likely be an online class as well. Royal commentator Emily Andrews said that Louis will likely formally begin his academic year in September 2022, when he's four years old.

But while his siblings are holding online classes at home, Louis is also part of the activities. Kate and William have been sharing in interviews that they are overseeing the children's homeschooling activities and their youngest child has been enjoying outdoor play and gardening with George and Charlotte.

Louis, however, was able to attend his first royal engagement in this pandemic. Last December 2020, the whole family watched a pantomime performance at the Palladium with the families of the NHS frontline healthcare workers. Source said that the Cambridge children will be in more royal events once the lockdown restrictions ease in the U.K.
