People behind the film didn't give anything about The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light's story or major details. However, the production team earlier confirmed that it would be the final film installment to the franchise.

The preview shows the team-up of Princess Elizabeth and Meliodas, pumping themselves for the final story. There are bursts of fires and floating feathers that add to the 30-seconder clip's intense turn of events.

Aside from the princess and the knight, other major characters show the determined looks on their faces, hinting at their preparedness to go on a final fight. On the other hand, the movie's visual confirms it will be the last anime movie of the franchise, featuring the words "Farewell, Seven Deadly Sins."

According to BlockToro, The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light will feature a completely original story, written by the manga creator himself, Nakaba Suzuki. It will follow the timeline of The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement anime series, which is currently airing and now on its eighth episode.

The said series serves as the anime's fifth season, premiering on January 6 in Japan on TV Tokyo, Anime News Network noted. It is set to be out on Netflix anytime this year.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement was supposed to be out in October 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic happened. As it affected its schedule and production, it was moved to a later date.

Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light is directed by Takayuki Hamana, while Rintarou Ikeda handles the scriptwriting works. In addition, Studio Deen supervises its animation production.

Aside from the upcoming movie, the franchise also had an earlier anime film adaptation called Prisoners of the Sky in 2018, per AniTrendz. The Seven Deadly Sins manga started serializing in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2012.

It officially ended in March 2020, while its final volume was out in May of the said year. Netflix describes its story as a kingdom that the tyrants take over. The deposed princess then started her journey to find the disbanded group of evil knights to help her take back her realm.
