U.S. men's college basketball has winnowed down the final 16 teams from 64 that started with univesities from the US west coast showing strength, but with many of the Midwestern schools getting knocked off.

The "Sweet 16," in the knockout tournament hosted by the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA), will start on Saturday, March 27, leading to the "Elite Eight" on Monday March 29 and the "Final Four" Saturday April 3.

The championship game is scheduled for Monday, April 5.

The only teams remaining from the Big Ten are Maryland and No. 1 seed Michigan.

But on the west coast, PAC 12 Oregon Ducks shot 56% for the game, made 11-of-25 from the three-point line, had 46 points in the paint and only turned it over 11 times.

The Pac 12 will have chances to get even more Sweet 16 teams with USC, UCLA and Coloarado in the mix overnight.
