Prince William has put an end to his 20-year-old friendship with Tom Bradby as he apparently feels "let down" by the ITV journalist.
According to insiders, William has learned that Bradby hasn't been a true friend to him as he weathered a crisis in the royal family. Though the insider didn't detail the specifics as to why the friendship soured, there were indications that the Duke of Cambridge wasn't happy with Bradby's coverage about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after they stepped back from their royal roles.
It was Bradby who got the confirmation that William and Harry had been feuding when he was able to speak to the Duke of Sussex. Harry told the journalist that he and his brother are now on different paths.
It was also Bradby who opened the floodgates to the issues Meghan had as a working royal. He was the journalist Meghan talked to when she said that not many people have asked her if she was feeling OK amid the negative press she's been subjected to.
Sources at the palace said that Bradby seems to have become the mouthpiece for Harry ad Meghan in London. The journalist is constantly in touch with the couple, who has been based in California since March 2020.
Prince William used to pick Bradby for exclusives and he was the duke's personal choice to sit down with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for their engagement interview in 2010. However, following his heart-to-heart talk with Harry and Meghan in 2019, which was aired as a documentary on ITV, Bradby has apparently changed his approach in covering the couple.
Meanwhile, another source at the palace said that William has had conversations with Harry in the weeks after the Oprah Winfrey interview. The source confirmed that their talks haven't been productive, as Harry has said, because William feels that his brother is "putting fame" first over his family.
The lines of communication between the brothers remain open despite this latest strain in their relationship. William and Harry are working together for the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue in Kensington Palace and they are expected to reunite for this event in July.
However, a source said that Harry might skip the appearance since it's still unclear if he will be able to fly from the U.S. to the U.K. Meghan is also due to give birth to their second child in the summer. The source said that it will be unforgivable for Prince William if his brother will not be at the event for their mother.
